RARE ENGRAVED Remington Model 14 ''PEERLESS'' GRADE, marked 30 REM, MFG: 1913, SN:14130 , Pump Action Rifle, 22'' round barrel. This is a Remington factory custom shop Deluxe Peerless Grade 4, later known as the ''D'' grade. The receiver side panels are covered with what Remington marketed as ''rich scroll hand engraving''. Engraving is also found on the barrel & trigger guard. The original deluxe hand checkered & capped pistol grip English walnut stocks are excellent. The checkering is 20 lines-per-inch. The stocks have some minor contusions & scratches & one larger bruise to the right side of the stock. The original metal blue finish is thinning in areas & toning to a brown patina where thinning, retained at 80% on barrel, 70% on receiver & 40% on the magazine tube. Bore is very good. Stock carries the original Remington hard rubber buttplate, with a couple of small edge chips. Barrel carries an adjustable rear & brass blade front sights. Stamped brass cartridge head inlaid on the left side of the receiver. Smooth tight action.
