RARE ENGRAVED Remington UMC, Model 11-48, Skeet ''F'' Premier Grade or Grade 6, 28 GA., MFG. 1953 (ZZ Date Code), SN: 400658, Semi-Auto Shotgun, 2 3/4'', 25'' Ventilated rib barrel. Factory custom shop engraved by Remington Master Engraver Carleton Ennis. Featuring hand engraved game scenes & acanthus scroll work, with a stippled background. Model, Grade & SN engraved on bottom of frame. The receiver & trigger guard are fully covered with deep cut engraving. The right side has three vignettes of a pair of shorthaired pointers, a jumped Mallard & a snipe. The left side has three vignettes with a pair of English Setters, Pheasant & Grouse. The trigger guard has the head of a hunting dog. All the animal figures are surrounded with acanthus scrollwork with stippled backgrounds. The quality of the chisel & hammer engraving is outstanding. Rare double signed with the initial ''E'' on both sides for Carleton Ennis. The factory blue finishes are 98% overall. The fine checked, pistol grip stock & beavertail forearm, with Fleur-Di-Lis accents are excellent. Extra fancy American walnut with gorgeous feathered figure & color. Very few tiny scuffs or handling marks. Sock inlaid with a blank gold initial plate. The left side of the barrel is marked ''28 GA. FOR 2 3/4 OR SHORTER SHELLS''. The right side of the barrel is marked ''REMINGTON ARMS CO. INC. ILION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A. / PATENT NO. 2,278,589 OTHERS PENDING''. The left side of the barrel lug is marked ''4006558''. The bottom of the receiver at the front is marked ''Remington / 11-48SF / 4006558''. The bottom of the chamber is marked with inspection marks, ''ZZ'', & ''SKEET''. The top of the receiver & rib have a wavy pattern for glare reduction, with a mid silver bead & front white bead. Bore is excellent. The stock carries a Remington black plastic buttplate. This highly sought after 28 ga ''F'' (Premier) grade is all original & Remingtons top grade. Its an excellent example of America's finest factory engraver's work.
