De-Beaumont-Soleil (Dutch), Model M1871/88 Beaumont-Vitali, CAL: 43 Egyptian, MFG: 1876, S/N: 2396, Bolt action rifle, 32 1/2'' Barrel. The straight wrist wood stock is very good with light dings, dents, scratches & wear from use/age, faint military acceptance cartouche on right side of stock that reads ''DELFT'', ''W'', ''1877'', another faint cartouche Infront of acceptance cartouche. These rifles were left in the white from the factory & the metal shows brown patina, left side of receiver has proof marks, top of receiver is marked, ''230'', ''S'', the 230 is not a S/N but is a part number, left side of barrel is marked with proof marks, ''1876'', S/N, top & right side of barrel holds proof marks, part number matched bolt & components. Bore is good, roughness in spots with lightly worn rifling. Barleycorn front sight with V-notch adjustable rear sight marked 2 to 18. metal buttplate with patina. Bottom sling swivels. These rifles were originally a single shot rifle but in 1888 they were converted to a magazine rifle by adding the Vitali magazine that you can also see on the Vetterli-Vitali rifle, when this rifle was imported into the us in the early 1900's it was converted to the more common at the time .43 Egyptian Remington for hunting purposes.
