Tokyo Arsenal, Model: Type 38, Cal: 6.5x50mmR, MFG: 1906-32, S/N: 001966445, Bolt action rifle, 31'' barrel. The military semi-pistol grip wood stock is good, stock has been cut down & re-shaped, stock appears to have been lightly sanded & re-oiled, stock has light scratches, dings, dents & wear from use/age. The metal appears to have been re-finished and has added cold blue on top in spots, the finish rates 95% overall. Left side of receiver is marked with S/N, & arsenal mark, top of receiver has a chrysanthemum with a stamp over it, & ''Type 38'' in Japanese, the mark over the chrysanthemum is indicative of a school rifle used from training cadets. Bore is very good, bright & clean with lightly thinned rifling. Barleycorn front sight with V-notch ladder rear sight marked 5 to 24. Metal buttplate with wear, patina, & rust. Only rear bottom sling mount. With the marking on the chrysanthemum & the two zero's Infront of the S/N, that makes this a school training rifle, this rifle was originally a military rifle but at sometime was taken out of service & giving to a Japanese school as training rifle, also with the barrel not being cut down this would make a good rifle to un-sporterized.
