DWM Model: Modelo Argentino 1891, CAL: .308 WIN, MFG 1899, SN: S4074, German made bolt action rifle, 22'' barrel. The original walnut that has been sporterized cut down to half-stock & is very good. The stock shows scratches, nicks & dings. Argentine crest has been ground off of receiver ring & the caliber marking ''308 WIN'' has been stamped in its place. Markings on left side of receiver: ''MAUSER MODELO ARGENTINO 1891 - DEUTSCHE WAFFEN - UND MUNITIONSFABRIKEN BERLIN.'' Matching SN on receiver, barrel, stock, bolt & magazine floorplate. The stock also carries several original proof or inspection stampings or cartouches. The metal carries about 80% bluing, toning to a brown patina in areas with spotting & haze. The barrel carries the original well made slide adjusting notched ladder sight, with graduation marks from 4 to 20. Front sight is original inverted ''V'' blade sight dovetailed in base. Bore is very good, bright & sharp rifling. Sling swivels. Original military style steel buttplate. The original caliber these were in is lower pressure than .308 Win., and the 1891 Mausers do not have as strong of a lockup and not as many safety features as the later Mausers, shoot at your own risk.
