RARE Colt, Model 1878, ''PALL MALL'' Stamping, CAL: .476 ENFIELD, MFG: 1885, SN: 15744, Double Action Revolver, 5 1/2'' barrel. The top of the barrel has the rare marking ''COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. DEPOT 14 PALL MALL LONDON''. The bottom is marked with two British proof marks. The cylinder has British proofs at the rear of each flute. The left side of the trigger guard is marked ''.476 CAL'' The loading gate & left side of backstrap is marked with assembly numbers ''567''. The full SN can be found on the butt, ahead of the lanyard loop. The Rampant Colt checkered hard rubber grips, with smooth borders, wedge-shaped smooth base are excellent. The nickel metal finish is very good with some spotting & speckling. Oxide blued trigger & hammer. Bore is very good & bright. The barrel holds a blade front sight. Lanyard swivel loop present. The .476 Enfield cartridge would have been more popular in England during the 1880's & 90s than most of Colts other offerings. The Pall Mall barrel address & Enfield chambering is more scarce than many other variations making it fairly rare & collectible. This revolver would make a great addition to any Colt or British revolver collection. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 1500 to 2500
