EARLY BOXED, Colt, Model Diamondback, CAL: .38 SPL, MFG: 1967, SN: D12419, Double Action Revolver, 4'' barrel. Early 2nd year production. The Colt Diamondback was introduced as a deluxe model in 1966, inspired by the successful Colt Python, in calibers of .22 LR, .22 WMR & .38 SPL. The Diamondback is built on the smaller ''D frame'', same as used in the Detective Special. It has a 6-shot swing-out cylinder & was available in blue or nickel finishes. It has a wide serrated target hammer, ventilated rib, fully adjustable target quality sights, & full-length barrel underlug. The left side of barrel is stamped ''DIAMONDBACK .38 SPECIAL CTG''. The Colt silver medallion, checkered walnut grips on this example are near mint. The high polish metal blued finish is likewise near mint. Bore is mint. The matte finished top of the ventilated rib barrel holds a screw height adjusting ''U'' notch rear sight & front blade sight. This gun comes in its original early production 2 piece Colt wood grain box, with purchase letter, warrenty card & other phamplet. Very desirable & scarce early model. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 2000 to 2500
