Colt, Model 1851 Navy, CAL: 36, MFG: 1863, SN: 148561, Single Action Percussion Revolver, 7 1/2'' barrel. Historical as a Native American owned Colt, with fantastic leather sheath, displaying wonderful & authentic native beaded work. The top of the barrel is marked ''--ADDRESS SAM L COLT NEW YORK U.S. AMERICA--''. The left side of the frame is marked ''COLT'S PATENT''. The cylinder is marked with a 'M'', with the naval engagement long since worn away. The full matching SN is displayed on the barrel, frame, trigger guard & butt. The original wood grips are very good & solid, some remains of original finish with light scrapes & minor edge nicks & dings. The metal has fully toned to a brown patina, with rust pitting. The trigger guard & backstrap are brass. Bore is good, with pitting amongst proud rifling. The barrel front dovetail is open & the hammer (when cocked) has an integrated groove acting as a rear sight. The metal surfaces display lots of abrasions, contusions & nicks consistent with old west, frontier & Native American use & ownershjp. The revolver needs a good cleaning & oiling, but also likely needs some gunsmith work to restore functionality. Hammer & trigger do not function correctly. Some parts many need repair or replacing. Nicely displayed in a wood & glass display case. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 1000 to 4000
