RARE & DESIREABLE, Early Nazi Mauser ''K-Date'' Military Luger, CAL: 9mm, MFG: 1934, SN: 8209, Semi Auto Pistol, 4'' barrel. The ''K-Date'' P.08 Lugers were manufactured by Mauser for the German Army in 1934 & represent the very first true German Army contract pistol. The ''K'' was developed as a secret wartime code by the Mauser factory to conceal the fact that Germany was rearming in violation of the Treaty of Versailles. The date of manufacture was coded to keep it secret. Approximately 10,500 produced. The full SN can be found on the front of the frame & left side of the receiver. The last two digits of the SN (09) can be found in multiple locations throughout the pistol. The number (19) can be seen on the extractor & (39) can be found on the left side of the breechblock. There appear to be some factory overstamps. The bottom of the barrel has a crossed out (2039) with ''8,83'' below it. A gothic style ''S'' can be found on the left side partially behind the side plate, on the right side of the breechblock above the frame & on the forward right of the receiver above the early 1st variation German military proof marks. The left side of the barrel also carries the early 1st variation German military proof mark. The upper position of the safety is marked ''GESICHERT'' & can be seen when the safety is in the lowered position. The checkered walnut grips are excellent & solid. The edges of the grips' checkering has been worn smooth from use. The metal blue finish rates 95%, with some areas that appear to be touched up. Bore is excellent, with minor speckling amongst proud rifling. The rear toggle link carries a fixed notch rear sight & the barrel has a blade front sight. Non-matching SN magazine. These early Wehrmacht P.08 pistols have an extremely low survival rate as almost all saw extensive service use on the Eastern front. This is an opportunity to obtain a good representative of a scarce ''K-Date'' Luger pistol. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1500 to 3000
