Remington, No.4 Rolling Block Solid Frame, CAL: .32, MFG: 1890-1900, SN: H40150, Single Shot Rolling Block Rifle, 26'' octagon barrel. The original straight grip wood stock & forend, with ebony inlay, are very good & solid. There are contusions, scrapes, dings & flaking to the original finish. There are some areas of darkening from years of use & added protective oils. The metal blue finish on the barrel & receiver has fully toned to a brown patina, with the case-hardened receiver retaining faint remains of case-colors in protected areas. Bore is very good & bright, with intermittent pitting amongst strong rifling. The barrel holds an adjustable rear sight & a blade front sight. Stock carries a smooth crescent metal buttplate, toned to a brown patina. Solid frame production of these guns ended in 1900, when the lever take-down model started, making this example more sought after than later variations of No.4 Rolling Block rifles.
