Otto Bossel, German Schuetzen Rifle, CAL: 8x14x46R, MFG: N/A, SN: NSN, Breech Loading Lever Action Rifle, Martini Action, 28'' fluted barrel. The top of the barrel flat is marked '' (Arrow) OTTO BOSSEL IN SUHL (Arrow)''. The factory checkered & carved walnut stock with high comb & flowing cheekpiece is excellent. The rifle is fitted with a plain schnabel tip forend that's been sanded & refinished. There are contusions, scrapes & dings to the finish. A small lever at the end of the bottom tang releases the stock from the receiver. The receiver & lever are fully engraved with floral scroll. The left side has a vignette of a sportsman cheering with a cup & the right side has a sportsman shooting a rifle. The metal finish on the fluted barrel has toned to a brown patina & the receiver is case-hardened, retaining faint case-colors in protected areas. Bore is excellent, with roughness amongst strong rifling. No rear sight, barrel has blank front sight provision. Stock has a large Schuetzen prong style buttplate with accent engraving. The receiver is missing the hammer/firing mechanism. No cleaning rod. With a few parts and some effort, this beautiful piece could be restored to a fully functioning Schuetzen rifle.* FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
