J.P Sauer & Sohn, Colt Sauer Sporting Rifle, CAL: 7mm REM MAG, MFG: 1983-84 (Produced 1971-84), SN: CR25268, Bolt Action Rifle, 23 1/2'' barrel. This rifle was marketed with a single word ''Incomparable''. Produced in W. Germany by J.P. Sauer & Sohn, these high-quality bolt-action rifles were built primarily for the American hunting market & shared specifications of USA-Colt. The rifles were introduced in 1971, saw a 14-year run & faded away in July of '84. The design was unique to the time. To increase operating speed, a Colt Sauers bolt locks up without rotating by utilizing three internally-cammed locking lugs. It is fed by a hefty steel single-stack magazine with the brand & caliber neatly engraved on the face of the follower. Colt Sauers are fitted with high grade American walnut stock with 18-line hand checkering & a high-gloss lacquer finish. A rosewood forend & grip cap add to the asthetic. The original checkered, capped & beaded cheek Monte Carlo style stock is excellent. The factory high-gloss finish is excellent. The deep blue metal finish rates 99% overall. Bore is excellent. The receiver is tapped & drilled, holding a pair of Redfield scope rings & bases. No open sight provisions. Sling studs present. Stock carries a Colt Sauer ventilated recoil pad. Original internally marked mag reads ''Colt Sauer 7mm Rem Mag''. These were not rifles made to be dragged through deer swamps or left in the barn. Rather, they were a balance between exceptional hunting performance & the artwork of fine gun builders. High condition, all original examples like this one have become quite collectible & command high values. FFL Req. - Value: 2500 to 4500
