Remington Woodsmaster Model 740, CAL 30-06, MFG: 1956, SN: 49196, Semi-Auto Rifle, 22'' barrel. Second year rifle. The original flat pistol grip wood stocks are good & solid, despite 2'' stress cracks on each side of wrist emanating from the receiver. There is thinning & flaking of the original finish & some minor scrapes & contusions. The original metal blue finish rates 85% overall. Bore is very good & bright. The receiver carries four open holes on top from previous scope block mounting, an additional hole on the back left edge & two screw filled holes on the left side of receiver for side mount receiver sight mounting. The barrel holds a blank filled rear dovetail & blade front sight. Buttstock carries a Remington marked metal buttplate. Comes with a second removable mag. Single rear sling stud.
