RARE NICKELED Remington, Model 12 B GALLERY SPECIAL, .22 SHORT ONLY Cal., MFG. 1910, SN: 33670, Pump Rifle, 24'' Tapered Octagon barrel, 2/3 rds mag. The Remington Model 12 is a slide-action rifle designed by John Pedersen & produced by the Remington Arms Company from 1909 to 36. The Model 12 is chambered in .22 Caliber Rimfire & accepts Short, Long, & Long Rifle cartridges, with a tubular magazine capacity of 14, 11, & 10 rounds respectively. The Model 12B ''Gallery Special'' was designed for use in shooting galleries, & can only fire .22 Short cartridges. These shooting galleries were extremely popular in the first half of the 20th century & Remington Model 12 rifles where amongst the favorites used due to their quality & reliability. This 2nd year of production ''GALLERY SPECIAL'' rifle is fairly rare. While over 800,000 Model 12 rifles were produced in it's four variations, A, B, C & CS, the model 12B saw the lowest production & is subsequently encountered far less often today. Even rarer are the half nickeled examples like this rifle. Due to their use in shooting galleries, most saw heavy use. The original factory, flat knob wood stock & honeycomb forend are very good & solid. Finish has darkened & thinned with age & use, with several minor contusions & light scratches. The original metal blue finish on the barrel & mag have worn to a thin brown patina. The NICKEL finish on receiver & crescent buttplate is excellent, retained at 98%, with a spot of thinning on the top of the receiver. All stampings & markings are crisp. Original front & rear sights. Bore is good & clean, with some cleaned roughness amongst solid rifling. A fairly rare & highly sought after popular amongst collectors grade, rare rifle. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1500 to 2500
