Winchester, Model 56 Sporter, .22 LONG R. Cal., MFG. 1926-29, SN: 14916, Bolt Action Rifle, 22'' Tapered barrel. The original pistol grip wood stock is very good, but with numerous minor scrapes, scratches & contusions to the original finish. The metal blue finish is toning brown & rates 40% overall. The top of the receiver has four tap & drilled holes from possible previous scope mounting, which have been filled/repaired. Bore is very good. Fitted with an adjustable Lyman receiver sight, blank filled rear dovetail & standard front sights. Checkered metal buttplate. ''Winchester'' stamped magazine. Only produced 4 years with approx. 8,297 mfg., but serialized with the model 57 rifles & thus the higher SN than total 56 production. Solid condition & fairly rare model.
