RARE Winchester, Model 67, 2nd Issue (677 Variation), CAL: 22 S.L.LR, MFG: 1937-42, SN: 02345, Bolt Action Rifle, 27 1/8'' barrel. This variation of the Model 67 is referred to as the ''677'', derived from its catalog number G67750R. This rifle is a repatriated WWII Lend-Lease rifle sold to Britain for homeland defense & marksmanship training. According to British proof house records, Winchester sold the British Government scoped Models 67, 677, 69 & 697 rifles. This is one of those rare British Model 677 rifles. The proof marks, model & serial number were not added until 1948. In 1944 British proofing requirements were suspended, hence the rifle was not proofed until 1948 before it was sold to the Parker Hale Co. The professionally refinished flat pistol grip wood stock is excellent, displaying minor contusions & dings to the finish. There is a single 2'' tight hairline crack on the right side of the stock emanating from the buttend. The metal blue finish on the barrel rates 90% overall, with spotting & speckling, & toning to a brown patina in areas of thinning. Bore is excellent. The original Winchester scope was removed & Parker Hale mounted a Model PH16 micrometer rear peep sight & ramp elevated hooded front sight, original scope mounting holes have filler screws. Originally, the rifle was issued with either a 5 or 2 3/4 power scope & there were no dovetails for iron sights. At some point, the Winchester scope was removed & the iron sights were added, thus converting it to a ''Target'' or ''Match'' rifle. Stock carries a checkered steel buttplate. This is a very rare rifle with an unusual history. Highly collectible! FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 500 to 1000
