C.S Shattuck, Model ''American'', CAL: 8GA, MFG: 1880-1908, SN: 99, Break Action Single Shot Shotgun, 40'' barrel. The round knob stock & forend appear to be replacements. They are very good, with minor contusions & surface scrapes. The finish on the forend is flaking. The London Twist barrel has fully toned to a brown patina. The frame & barrel end is case-hardened, retaining visible, but faint case-colors, with some intermittent spotting. Bore is excellent. The barrel holds a single front post sight. The front trigger breaks the barrel & the rear trigger fires the gun. Stock carries a smooth metal buttplate. A nice example of a turn-of-the-century large bore shotgun. Notice: London Twist barrels are not safe to shoot smokeless powder or steel shot out of. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1000 to 2200
