JOHN WAYNE'S ''THE ALAMO'' MOVIE PROP, Remington, Rolling block (Guatemala), .43 Spanish, MFG: 1874-90's, S/N: N/A, Rolling block breech loading Rifling, 35'' barrel. This Rifle was used tin the movie ''The Alamo'' which was produced by John Wayne's production company Batjac Productions & is marked ''BATJAC'' on left side of the wrist, this was a stand in prop for a muzzleloader. The straight wrist wood stock is good, stock has nicks, dings, dents, scratches & wear from use/age, handguard has various chips along stock line, stock has darkened from oil/age, 1 1/4'' crack on left side of handguard emanating from receiver, stock has a couple more small cracks in areas, rear barrel band is missing, Left side of wrist is marked ''BATJAC''. Metal has toned to a even gray/brown patina with spots of gun metal gray showing through, barrel has multiple nicks along the right side of barrel looks to be from a small hammer. Upper tang is marked with Remington patent dates, top of barrel is marked ''EUERCITO DE GUATEMALA''. Bore is very good, bright with light roughness & very light pitting in a few spots. Blocked blade front sight with tangent/ladder U-notch rear sight marked 1 to 5 on base & 6 to 9 on ladder, replaced sight on ladder. Steel Butt plate that has brown patina & spots of wear. Bottom sling swivels. This is a scarce Guatemalan marked Remington Rolling block, many of small supply of these were destroyed in the 60's when many rolling blocks were rechambered to 45-70 on the civilian market, with this being in it original chambering & also being marked by John Wayne's production company it would make a nice piece for a John Wayne collector or a Military collector. Antique No FFL Req. - Value: 800 to 1600
