Springfield Armory, Model: 1898 Krag, Cal: .30-40 Krag, MFG: 1900, S/N: 259563, Bolt action rifle, 22 1/4'' Barrel. The cut down straight wrist wood stock is very good, stock has nicks, dings, dents, scratches, & wear from use/age, plug fill in where the hole for the cleaning used to be, small circle carved out of right side of stock for bolt handle, inlaid pearl colored circle on left side of stock above trigger, no visible cartouches, upper handguard has four hairline cracks Infront of rear sight block, two of them appear to have been repaired. The metal finish on the barrel rates 75% with wear, scratches, & patina, the metal finish on the receiver rates 45% with most areas worn to a gun metal gray. Left side of the receiver is marked ''U.S.'', ''MODEL 1898 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY'', & S/N. Bolt hand has been bent backwards, safety is missing. Bore is excellent, bright & mirror like. Blade on ramp front sight with, tangent/ladder V-notch rear sight marked 1 to 4 on base & 4 to 20 on ladder. Steel trapdoor buttplate with light rust & brown patina, noting inside trapdoor. Bottom sling swivels. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 200 to 400
