Springfield Armory, Model: 1898 Krag, Cal: .30-40 Krag, MFG: 1898, S/N: 156321, Bolt action rifle, 22 1/4'' Barrel, barrel has been cut down & Crowned. The cut down straight wrist wood stock is very good, stock has been lightly sanded & has a high gloss finishes added to it, Metal is proud to wood in areas, stock has nicks, dings, dents, scratches, & wear from use/age, plug fill in where the hole for the cleaning used to be, no visible cartouches, upper handguard has two cracks, running from end to end. The metal finish on the barrel rates 65% with spots worn gray & gray patina, the metal finish on the receiver rates 50% with thinned bluing & spots worn to a gun metal gray. Left side of the receiver is marked ''U.S.'', ''MODEL 1898 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY'', & S/N. Bore is good, has dark ring Approx 6'' from muzzle, & light roughness. Ramp front sight with missing blade, tangent/ladder V-notch rear sight marked 3 to 6 on base & 7 to 18 on ladder. Steel trapdoor buttplate with gray patina, noting inside trapdoor. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 200 to 400
