Waffenfabrik Bern (Swiss), Model: M1896/11, Cal: 7.5x55 Swiss, MFG: 1903, S/N: 292276, Bolt action straight pull rifle, 30 3/4'' barrel. The Semi-Pistol grip wood stock is very good with small nicks, dings, dents, scratches, gouges, & wear from use/age, the spliced in semi-pistol grip was added when it was refurbished into the M1896/11 model at the factory, Swiss cross inside crest cartouche on right side of stock on cheek, ''109860'' & ''UR'' in a box, cartouche on top of stock by Butt plate. The metal finish on the barrel rates 75% with areas of wear & lightly thinned bluing, The metal finish on the receiver rates 35% with most areas being gunmetal gray & having thinned bluing. Receiver is marked ''BP'', ''P. 58'', & S/N, barrel is marked ''BP'', ''B'', S/N, Swiss cross, & other proof marks, all parts are S/N Matched. Bore is excellent, bright & mirror like. Blade front sight with tangent U-notch rear sight marked 5 to 15 on the base & 3 to 20 on the ladder. Steel butt plate with light rust & patina, upper tang is marked with Swiss cross & ''276''. Bottom sling swivels. The P 58 marking means that it was given to a solder when he retired from active duty & went into the reserves & was likely the rifle he served with. A nice example of a Swiss conversion gun that is in excellent condition, would make a excellent shooter or collectors piece. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 350 to 700
