Izhevsk, Model: M44, Cal: 7.62x54mmR, MFG: 1948, S/N: nr4068, Bolt action rifle, 20 '' Barrel. The straight wrist wood stock is good with, dings, dents & scratches from use/age, heavy finish wear in areas, two faint cartouches on right side of stock by cheek, Arrow in triangle cartouche on right side of stock by butt plate, ''M'' & backwards ''R'' in square cartouches in right finger groove of stock. The metal finish rates 80% overall with light scratches & areas of lightly thinned bluing. Left side of receiver is stamped with importer marks, top of barrel is marked with a hammer & sickle in circle of wheat, ''y'' in a circle, ''1948r'', S/N, arrow in triangle, & other proof marks, Bolt, magazine floor plate, & butt plate are S/N Matched. Bore is excellent, bright & mirror like with little to no wear. Post front sight with protective globe, Tangent U-notch rear sight marked 1 to 10. steel butt plate with small nicks & wear, upper tang is marked arrow in triangle, ''C'' in diamond, & S/N. has cleaning rod, side folding bayonet is staked in place to the barrel & is not recommend to try to take it off as it could damage the rifle, they were only meant to come off at a arsenal, comes with period correct canvas sling with ''Dog collar'' sling attachments. A really good example of a post war Mosin & with its excellent bore would make a fun little shooter. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 300 to 600
