Zbrojovka Brno, Model: VZ 24 Romanian Contract, Cal: 7.92x57mm, MFG: 1940, S/N: SR 16054, bolt action rifle, 22 7/8'' Barrel, The original semi-pistol grip wood stock is very good with scratches, nicks, dings, dents, & wear from use/age, left side of stock by Butt plate stamped with S/N & circle stamp, right side of stock has a unmarked unit disc with a lacquer finish over it, ''81'' in white plate by butt plate, The metal finish on the barrel rates 90% with small spots of wear near muzzle, the metal finish on the receiver rates 70% with spots of grinding being re-blued, left side of receiver is marked ''CESKOSLOVENSKA ZBROJOVKA,A.S,BRNO'', ''VZ.24'', & S/N. Top of receiver is marked with ground down crest that's had bluing added over it, end of barrel is stamped with importer marks, S/N mismatched bolt. Bore is very good, bore is beginning to darken but has strong rifling, has been counter bored. Barleycorn front sight with protective ears, tangent V-notch rear sight marked 3 to 20. steel Butt plate with small nicks & wear. Bottom & side sling swivels, missing cleaning rod. This rifle originally would have a beautiful lion crest on top of the receiver but most if not all of the VZ 24 that Romania had, had the crest wiped after WW2 when the new communist government took over & re-arsenaled the rifles, still would make a good shooter.
