RARE!! Dansk Industri Syndikat (MADSEN), Model: Madsen M47, Cal: .30-06, MFG: 1958, S/N: 4408-58, Bolt action rifle, 23 1/4'' barrel. These Danish rifles were designed right after WW2 & marketed in the early 50's for smaller poor country's that could not afford to buy brand new semi-auto, but still wanted a new rifle for their military in a modern cartridge, they would be marketed in a multitude of cartridges, but with the massive amount of cheap surplus arms from WWII, also with the increase of semi-auto rifles being produced and being made cheaper these rifles had very little demand. The only know contract was in 1958 for 6,000 rifles in 30-06 for the Colombian government, & they were not known to have been used outside of ceremonial use, they were stored as surplus until they sold to exporters to the us in the 60's. The semi pistol grip wood stock is excellent with little to no wear. The black metal finish rates 94% on the barrel with very minor wear, & the finish on the receiver rates 90% with one spot of light wear from use. Left side of receiver is marked ''MADSEN M. GIA'', S/N, ''Cal. .30'', Top of receiver is marked ''FUERZAS ARMADAS'', ''DE'', ''COLOMBIA''. Bore is excellent, bright & shiny with little no wear. Post front sight with protective globe, tangent, elevation & windage adjustable, aperture rear sight marked 1 to 9. Grooved rubber Butt pad. Bottom sling swivels. These rifle are quite rare and have a interesting history behind them, they were a excellently designed but poorly marketed rifle, & would make a nice shooter or collectors piece. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 600 to 2000
