Winchester, Model 1873, 3rd Variation, CAL: 44 WCF, MFG: 1885, SN: 184607, Lever Action Rifle, 24'' Round barrel. Full mag. The straight grip wood stock & forend are very good & solid. The wood may have been cleaned, or lightly sanded, but it appears to still display the original finish or at least a vintage refinish that has an authentic look. There is some natural shrinkage to the wood. The displays numerous minor contusions, nicks & scrapes, along with some age staining. The original metal finish has been cleaned, aged & worn away to a mostly gun metal gray. Some spots of cleaned light speckled pitting found on both the barrel & receiver. Bore has been sleeved & is near mint. The barrel holds an adjustable rear & pinched blade front sights. Stock carries a sliding trapdoor, crescent metal buttplate. A few of the screws appear to be more modern replacements. Action is tight & smooth. This rifle would be a great shooter, classic hunter or fantastic cowboy shooter, with the excellent bore & worn western appearance. Comes with a printed copy of a Cody Winchester letter confirming configuration & date. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 1500 to 3000
