Savage, Model 1899 Take-down, CAL: 22 H.P., MFG: 1912, SN: 120825, Lever Action Rifle, 20'' SAVAGE HI-PRESSURE STEEL tapered round barrel. The smooth straight grip wood stocks are very good & solid, as lightly sanded & refinished. The stocks retain several of the old handling marks, contusions & dark spots from before the refinish. The metal finish on the barrel rates 70%, graying as it thins. The receiver is worn mostly gun metal gray, with some remains of blue on protected areas of the receiver & lever base. The lever displays faint remains of case-coloring. The left side of the receiver has an extra screw for unknown reason as it does not appear to have had a side mounted receiver sight or scope mount on the rifle. Barrel fitted with a n adjustable rear & standard front sights. Bore is good, but with roughness amongst solid rifling. The stock carries a replacement serrated plastic buttplate. Action is smooth & tight. Good appearance & likely a good shooter. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 400 to 600
