Remington, Model 4 Take-down, .32 SHORT or LONG R.F., MFG 1902-24, SN: 164908, Rolling block single shot rifle. 24'' Octagon barrel. The model 4 was produced from 1890 to 1933 in several variation & evolutions. The model 4 began production in 1890 as a screw in fixed barrel, but it was change to a takedown with lever in 1902 until 24 when it was changed again to a take-down screw. The rifle with the take-down screw was produced from 1924 to 33. The straight grip wood stocks are very good & solid. They carry the original finish with the usual small dings & scratches. There is a 1/2'' by 1 1/2'' missing chip to the left side of the toe. The original metal blue finish has fully toned to an even coverage of brown patina on both barrel & receiver. Bore is poor, with lots of pitting & scarring to the worn rifling. Barrel carries a fixed dovetail rear & standard front sights. The stock carries a smooth metal Remington buttplate.
