Enfield, Model: Martini-Henry, MK II, Match Rifle, Cal: .22 LR MFG: 1874, S/N: 15747, Lever breech loading single shot rifle, 30'' barrel. This rifle was converted by London Small Arms Co. LTD for The Society of Miniature Rifle Clubs (S.M.R.C.), all of which is stamped on the left side of the receiver along with the Society's crest. The original two piece straight wrist stocks are very good & solid. The stocks were checkered & the forend cutdown or sporterized during the conversion process. The stocks show typical wear & have darkened in areas from oils & many long years of service. The right side of the stock carries additional original cartouches & stampings including the '' WD Enfield'' manufacturer roundel, the Mark II stamping & a ''!'' designating it as a class one weapon intended for frontline infantry combat. The metal blue finish has toned to a blue/brown tone with 85% overall coverage & with some speckling. Right side of receiver has original markings Crown over ''V.R.'', ''ENFIELD'', ''1874'', proof mark, ''II'': Left side stamped as previously listed. Right side of barrel is marked with S/N & proof stampings, top the caliber ''.22 L.R.'' & left side more British proofs. The lower tang, trigger guard, lever & bottom of receiver under lever are all stamped with British proofs. Bore is very good. Barrel carries a tangent/ladder V-notch rear sight marked 100 to 400 on base, 5 to 12 on ladder & proof stampings, along with a blade on block front sight. Steel buttplate. Sling attachment on barrel. An interesting rifle that started its life as a British 1874 frontline infantry rifle which was nicely converted to a .22 Match Rifle. Antique No FFL Req. - Value: 400 to 800
