CUSTOM Eddyston, Model 1917 Enfield Custom Sporting Rifle, CAL: 35 Ackley Mag Improved, MFG: 1918, SN: 923061, Bolt Action Rifle, 25'' tapered barrel including the muzzle break. The sporting conversion Monte Carlo stock is very good, with cheek, flat pistol grip & a tapered forend. There are minor scratches or contusions to the black finish, along with an almost intentional grouping of chatter marks on each side of the stock in front of the action that may be there for added grip. The consignor says the barrel is a Hobough custom barrel & has indicated that it is marked as such under the stock. Bill Hobaugh was well known as a quality barrel maker that practiced his trade for many years out of Phillipsburg, Montana. It was said that he was one of the few who would tackle custom octagon barrels & many custom rifle makers utilized his barrels & tubes. The barrel is marked ''35 ACK. MAG. IMP.'' on the left side. The metal blue finish on the barrel rates 85%, with spotty areas of loss. The receiver retains 90% of its matte gray military finish. The floorplate & trigger guard retain 80% of a Japan Black finish. Bore is very good & bright. The receiver carries a The receiver carries a Weaver Micro-Trac 2.5x-7x scope, with no open sights on barrel. Buttstock carries a White Line ventilated recoil pad & sling loops.
