CUSTOM Springfield Armory 1898 Krag Sporting Rifle, CAL: 30-40 Kraig, MFG: 1902, SN: 418933, Bolt Action Rifle, 23'' original cutdown barrel. Stamped U.S. on receiver. The modern cheeked & capped pistol grip Monte Carlo wood stock is excellent, with few handling marks to the excellent original finish, It has very nice straight grain & an ebony forend tip. The high luster metal blue finish rates 97% overall, with some spots on the bolt & magazine box. The original barrel was cut down, had the rear sight provision holes filled, nicely polished & a hooded ramp front sight added before the current modern blue process. No markings on barrel. Bore is very good. The receiver carries a Lyman adjustable receiver sight, Buttstock carries a Pachmayr White Line ventilated recoil pad. Sling studs. A nicely assembled custom or sporterized Krag rifle. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 400 to 700
