Colt Lightning, Medium Frame, Marked .38 CAL., MFG. 1884, SN: 1645, Pump Action Rifle, 26'' Octagon barrel, Full mag. First year rifle with the early open top receiver. The factory stocks are very good & solid, despite two 2'' stress cracks on the left side of the wrist. It has the correct checkered forend & non-checkered stock. The original finish has thinned & some of the checkering has worn smooth from normal use. There are five kill notches proudly carved into the right side of the stock, along with other minor handling marks, scratches & contusions. The metal finish has worn mostly gray, with a thin layer of brown patina. Adjustable rear & silver blade front sight. Bore is good, but with lots of roughness amongst strong rifling. Crescent metal buttplate. An early survivor & collectible rifle. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
