The Sterlingworth Co. (A.H. Fox), CAL: 12 GA, MFG: 1910, SN: 50802, Break Action SxS Shotgun, 30'' barrels. Full/Full, The top of the right barrel is marked ''STERLINGWORTH FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL MADE BY'' & the right barrel is marked ''THE STERLINGWORTH COMPANY-PHILIDELPHIA, PA. U.S.A''. Both sides of the receiver are marked ''THE STERLINGWORTH CO.''. The full SN can be found on the lower tang, floor plate & barrel flat. The checkered & capped flat pistol grip stocks are excellent, having been lightly sanded with an added layer of finish. The metal blue finish on the barrels rates 95% & the case-hardened receiver has mostly worn to metal gray & brown patina, with remnants of case-colors in heavily protected areas. Simple border engravings. Bores are excellent. The solid matted rib holds a single front bead. Stock carries a grooved plastic buttplate. When Ansley H. Fox, was forced to add a lower priced gun to his line of graded Ansley H. Fox guns, in 1910, he didn't want to detract from the A.H. Fox Gun Co. name, so they dummied up ''The Sterlingworth Company.'' The first years guns, beginning with serial number 50,000, were marked as being ''Made By The Sterlingworth Company, Philadelphia, U.S.A.'' . They even produced a separate The Sterlingworth Gun Co. catalogue for 1910. These guns were built under the same patents as the graded Ansley H. Fox guns. This example was one of the first few hundred produced of the Sterlingworth line. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 500 to 1000
