RARE Winchester Model 1897 RIOT GUN, SOLID FRAME, CAL: 12 GA, MFG: 1920, SN: 721151, Pump Action Shotgun, 2 3/4'', Choke: CYL. 20'' Barrel. The 12 ga take-down model was added in Oct 1898, & after the take-down versions were added, very few solid frame examples were ordered & produced, making this 1920 production example of the Riot Gun with a solid frame & later flat pistol grip fairly rare & collectible. The original flat pistol grip wood stock & corncob forearm are very good, They would rate excellent, but there is a 2'' stress crack at the upper left wrist emanating from the receiver & a 2'' grain crack in the forend. They display minor handling marks or contusions to the original finish. The original metal blue finish rates 70% overall, with some speckling on the barrel. Bore is excellent. Barrel holds a single front bead. Buttstock carries a Winchester plastic buttplate. Nice example of an original Riot Gun 1897. LOP: 13 7/8''. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
