Springfield Armory, Model: 1873 Cavalry Carbine, Cal: 45-70, MFG: 1878, Antique, S/N: 87082, Trapdoor single shot rifle, 22'' barrel. The straight wrist wood stock is very good, stock appears to have been lightly sanded & oiled, added finish visible in some areas of stock, no visible cartouches on stock. The metal has toned to a gray/brown patina with light rust speckling & has scratches in areas. Top of breech block is marked ''U.S.'', ''MODEL'', ''1873'', rear of receiver is marked with S/N, left side of barrel is marked with a very faint ''V'', ''P'', over a Eagles head, & ''P''. Bore is good, bright with thinned rifling & mild roughness throughout. Blade on block front sight with a tangent/ladder, buckhorn rear sight marked 1 to 8 on base & 8 to 15 on ladder, sight base & ladder is also marked ''C''. Steel trapdoor butt plate marked ''US'' on the upper tang, full cleaning rod set inside stock. Saddle ring & bar sling mount. Antique No FFL Req. - Value: 600 to 1200
