Springfield Armory, Model: 1884 Cavalry Carbine, Cal: 45-70, MFG: 1886, Antique, S/N: 344216, Trapdoor single shot rifle, 22'' barrel. The straight wrist wood stock is very good, stock appears to have been lightly sanded & oiled, faint ''54'' cartouche on bottom of stock by lower tang. The metal has toned to a gray/brown patina with areas of cleaned pitting. Top of breech block is marked ''U.S.'', ''MODEL'', ''1884'', rear of receiver is marked with S/N, left side of barrel is marked ''V'', ''P'', over a Eagles head, & ''P'', eagles head & the 2nd ''P'' are worn/faint. Bore is fair, bright with thinned rifling & mild roughness throughout, deeper roughness near muzzle. Blade on block front sight with a Buffington rear sight marked 2 to 20 on ladder, ladder is also marked ''C''. Steel trapdoor butt plate marked ''US'' on the upper tang. Saddle ring & bar sling mount. Antique No FFL Req. - Value: 600 to 1200
