JOHN WAYNE'S ''THE ALAMO'' MOVIE PROP, Remington, Rolling block (Guatemala), .43 Spanish, MFG: 1874-90's, S/N: 188, Rolling block breech loading Rifling, 37'' barrel. This Rifle was used in the movie ''The Alamo'', which was produced by John Wayne's production company Batjac Productions. It is marked ''BATJAC'' on left side of the wrist. This was a stand in prop for a muzzleloader. The straight wrist wood stock is good, with nicks, dings, dents, scratches & wear from use/age. Stock has darkened from oil/age. It is missing sling mount in bottom of stock behind lower tang. Also missing one escutcheon on left side of handguard, right side one is still present. Left side of wrist is marked ''BATJAC'', left cheek is hand marked ''A.de.Lios.S'', left side of hand guard is marked ''PE'', right side of hand guard is marked ''R&M''. Metal has toned to a even gray/brown patina with lots of dings/grind marks, & cleaned pitting on receiver & barrel. Right side of receiver is marked ''AB'', ''188''. Bore is good, bright with pitting & thinned rifling. Blocked barleycorn front sight with tangent/ladder V-notch rear sight, replaced sight on ladder. Steel Butt plate that has light rust pitting. Bottom sling loop on middle barrel band. Antique No FFL Req. - Value: 500 to 1500
