Izhevsk, Model: M44, Cal: 7.62x54mmR, MFG: 1945, S/N: TT9414, Bolt action rifle, 20 1/2'' Barrel. The straight wrist wood stock is good with light dings, dents & scratches from use/age, two small plug repairs at end of stock near muzzle, complete toe break that goes up past the rear sling well, has been nicely, professionally repaired, likely a arsenal repair. The metal finish rates 20% overall with heavy finish wear from use. Left side of receiver is stamped with importer marks & has S/N on barrel re-stamped by importer, top of barrel is marked with a hammer & sickle in circle of wheat, ''1945r'', S/N, arrow in triangle, & other proof marks, Bolt, & magazine floor plate are S/N mismatched, S/N match butt plate, the bolt is marked with a triangle ''21'' stamp which is a Chinese stamp. Bore is good, beginning to darken with lightly thinned rifling. Post front sight with protective globe, Tangent U-notch rear sight marked 1 to 10. steel butt plate with small nicks & wear. Missing the cleaning rod, side folding bayonet, with the heavy amount of wear on this rifle with the late WW2 MFG date it was most certainly sold or given to the Chinese, & then either used by them or, likely given to north Vietnams forces & used by them in Vietnam, eventually being imported to the US, either way this is a well used & loved rifle that seen a lot of action that is ready for more.
