Colt, New Service Commercial Model, CAL: 44-40, MFG: 1922, SN: 316989, Double Action Revolver, 7 1/2'' barrel. The top of the barrel is stamped with two line address & patent dates. The left side of the barrel is marked ''NEW SERVICE 44-40'' & the left side of the frame displays a clear Rampant Colt. The original Colt marked checkered hard rubber grips are good. The right grip has an edge chip & a 2'' glue repaired crack, otherwise condition is very good. The metal blue finish rates 80% overall, with intermittent cleaned pitting & small areas worn to metal gray, toned to a thin brown patina. Bore is excellent. U-notch rear groove & large fin shaped blade front sight. Lanyard loop present. This example has the more desirable flat cylinder latch. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
