Smith & Wesson, Model 1917 Brazilian Contract (1st Contract), CAL: 45 ACP, MFG: 1937, SN: 198768, Double Action Revolver, 5 1/2'' barrel. The right side of the frame carries the Brazilian crest & bears the date ''1937''. The S&W logo medallion checkered wood grips are excellent. There are contusions, light scrapes & dings. These are replacement grips. The original grips that came on this pistol were smooth. The metal blue finish rates 70% overall, with consistent wear & a thin brown patina. Bore is excellent, with intermittent roughness. Notch & blade sights. 25,000 Model 1917's were made for the Brazilian Government. This example was apart of the first shipment in 1938, which was a majority of all the pistols sent. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 300 to 500
