ENGRAVED Winchester, Model 1886, .40-82, MFG. 1893, SN: 80454, Lever Action Rifle, 26'' Octagon barrel, Full mag., This unique rifle was beautifully engraved by Master Engraver Ralph W. Ingle. Ingle's unique high-relief scrollwork, with stippled matte background, is featured on the receiver, buttplate, forend cap & lever. The rifle also was also engraved with a small ''P.A. LINN'' on a right side flat of the barrel. After engraving the rifle was then finished to give it an authentic vintage appearance. The wood stocks are very good, having been cleaned, lightly sanded & reoiled. They still display several small scuffs, scrapes & contusions, along with some of the original staining. There is a sliver of missing wood at the right shoulder where the wrist meets the receiver. The metal was refinished with an aged patina complementing the vintage style engraving. The loading gate & top of the bolt retains the original blue. The finish also shows spots of wear & areas of thinning, mostly on the barrel & mag tube. There are spotty areas of pitting & chattering on both the barrel & mag. Standard front & rear sights. Bore is fair, with worn rifling amongst pitting & scarring. There is also a ring in the barrel about 3'' from the muzzle. Stock fitted with a crescent metal buttplate, which is proud to the wood. The engraving alone was more than the low value & that does not include all the other work & before having a gun to engrave on. Desirable for those who appreciate the beauty & quality of a finely engraved firearm, which still retains a more authentic worn & vintage appearance. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 4000 to 8000
