Remington, Model M1867 Rolling Block Carbine, .50 C.F., MFG 1868-69, SN: None, Rolling block single shot carbine. 23 1/4'' Round barrel. The carbine is clearly marked on the receiver tang in two lines: ''REMINGTON ILION, NY U.S.A. PAT. MAY 3D NOV. 15TH 1864 APRIL 17TH 1866''. The buttplate is clearly stamped ''U.S.'' on the tang. The barrel band has he usual ''U'' mark. No cartouches are present. The Model 1867 has NO sling ring & bar. Instead, it has a butt swivel & a front swivel mounted on the barrel retaining band. The original straight grip wood stocks are very good & solid, with numerous small scrapes, scratches & contusions to what appears to be the original finish. There is a couple larger gouges on the left side of the stock. The barrel has worn mostly gun metal gray, with a thin brown patina, while the case-hardened receiver has faded gun metal gray & a thin brown patina developing. Bore is very good. Barrel sights are original & correct, with the rollover folding leaf sight stamped 1, 3 & 5. The stock carries the original smooth metal carbine buttplate. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 500 to 1000
