Remington, Model 4, .32 SHORT or LONG R.F., MFG 1902-24, SN: J233124, 24'' Octagon barrel, Rolling block single shot rifle. The model 4 was produced from 1890 to 1933 in several variation & evolutions. The model 4 began production in 1890 as a screw in fixed barrel, but it was change to a takedown with lever in 1902 until 1924 when it was changed again to a take-down screw. This rifle with the take-down lever was produced from 1902 to 24. The straight grip wood stocks are very good & solid, having been lightly sanded & refinish. The stocks show small marks, scratches & contusions. The original metal blue finish on the barrel has fully toned to a brown patina, while the case-hardened the receiver has faded gun metal gray with a thinner brown patina. Bore is fair, still bright with scarring amongst thinned rifling. Barrel carries a small fixed rear & standard blade front sights. The stock carries the original smooth metal buttplate.
