CUSTOM U.S. Springfield, Model 1884 Trapdoor, CAL: 45-70, MFG: 1893, SN: 561265, Trapdoor Breech Loading Rifle. 30'' Octagon heavy barrel. This rifle has been fully & expertly custom built. The custom cheeked & pistol grip walnut stock is excellent, with sharp hand checkering, Schnabel forend tip & excellent high gloss finish. There are very few handling marks to the finish. The high luster metal blue finish on the barrel rates 99%. The case-hardened receiver, sideplate, hammer, trapdoor & trigger guard all display fantastic case-colors. The lock plate is stamped with an eagle & ''U.S. SPRINGFIELD''. The top of the trapdoor is stamped ''U.S. MODEL 1884''. The rifle is fitted with sliding aperture flip-up tangent tang sight, while the barrel carries a spirit level silhouette globe front sight. Bore is excellent, bright with strong riffling. Doble set triggers. Stock carries a widow's peak checkered metal buttplate. This is a fantastic & excellent overall rifle, that the buffalo hunters of old would have been proud to own.
