RARE Winchester Model 54 TARGET RIFLE, CAL: .30 GOV'T'06., MFG: 1934, SN: 41097A, Bolt Action Rifle, 24'' heavy round barrel. The model 54 was the first successful civilian bolt action for Winchester. They are fairly rare model with total production of just over 50,000 in all variations from 1925 to 36. The Target Rifle is one of the rarest model 54 variations, only surpassed by the National Match Rifles. This particular rifle is listed by SN on page 146 of Dave Bichest's Model 54 book, ''Winchester Model 54 Bolt Action Rifle 1925-1936''. The original Target flat pistol grip wood stock on this example is excellent, with few minor contusions or light scratches to what appears to be the original finish. Fitted with a hand stop on the belly of the forend. The metal blue finish appear original & rates 98%, although the SN appears thinly stamped. Bore is excellent. The rifle is fitted with an adjustable Lyman 48W receiver sight & a Lyman silhouette front sight. Receiver & barrel carry factory scope blocks. Buttstock carries the original checkered metal buttplate. Factory sling loops. An excellent example of a rare bench Winchester bolt action. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 2500 to 4500
