EARLY Weatherby, Model MARK V Deluxe, Marked 270 MAGNUM, MFG. 1959 SN: 23040, Bolt Action Rifle, 24'' Round fast tapered barrel. Early ''No Prefix'' & ''Patent Pending'' first series USA production. The .270 Weatherby Magnum was the first belted magnum based on the .300 H&H Magnum to be developed by Roy Weatherby in 1943. The development of the .270 Weatherby Magnum led to the characteristic double-radius shoulders belted magnum case, proprietary of the Weatherby Magnum line of cartridges. Given its higher pressure & larger case which holds more powder than the .270 Winchester, the .270 Weatherby has about 200 ft/s faster performance with any particular bullet weight. The factory Monte Carlo cheeked walnut stock on this rifle is excellent & original, with early factory skip-line checkering & rosewood/white diamond pistol grip cap & tipped forend. The factory finish is excellent, with minor finish level handling marks. Beautiful contrasting grain. The original high luster metal blue finish is 98% on barrel, receiver & floorplate, while the receiver has toned to a lovely plum, which is typical of these early production Weatherby rifles. Bore is excellent, shiny & bright. Mounted with an Original Weatherby Variable 2 3/4X to 10 scope & no open sight provisions. Stock carries the original Weatherby ventilated recoil pad. Factory sling studs. An overall excellent, high original condition, & vintage Weatherby collectable rifle. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1500 to 2500
