Description

RARE Weatherby, Model MARK V Deluxe, LEFT HANDED, Marked 7MM MAGNUM, MFG. 1963, SN: 38804, Bolt Action Rifle, 24'' Round fast tapered barrel. Early W. German, first series production without letter prefix. The 7mm Weatherby, designed by Roy Weatherby in 1944, was developed from a 300 H&H case, it is a belted case that sports Weatherby's iconic double radius shoulder. The cartridge was one of the first cartridges offered by the Weatherby company. The factory Monte Carlo cheeked walnut stock is excellent & original, with early factory skip-line checkering & rosewood/white diamond pistol grip cap & tipped forend. The factory finish is excellent, with a tiny bit of spider webbing beneath the cheek The original high luster metal blue finish is 98% on barrel, receiver & floorplate, while the receiver has toned to a lovely plum, which is typical of these early production Weatherby rifles. Bore is excellent & bright. Mounted with a Leupold Gold Ring 3x9 VARI-X II scope on Buehler blocks & no open sight provisions. Stock carries the original Weatherby ventilated recoil pad. Factory sling studs. The 7mm Weatherby Magnum is a very adequate cartridge for hunting medium to large-sized deer such as mule deer, moose & even elk, up to long ranges due to its plain trajectory with bullets of different weights & due to the high ballistic coefficient the 7mm bullets are praised for. However, with adequately constructed bullets, the 7mm Wby Mag may be used for hunting larger game, including the great bears & the American bison. Bluebook states 20 to 30% premiums are paid for these early pre-prefix Mark V rifles, particularly when LEFT HANDED. An overall excellent, high original condition, & early vintage Weatherby in a collectable magnum caliber. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1500 to 2500
