Winchester, Model 99 ''Thumb Trigger'', CAL: 22 Short & Long, MFG: 1904-23, SN: NSN, Bolt Action Rifle, 18'' barrel. The original straight grip wood stock is very good & solid, having been lightly sanded & refinished, but still with numerous minor contusions, scratches & scrapes remaining. There is a 2'' repaired slice of wood along the stock edge under the bolt handle. There are also a few initials scratched into the left side of stock, which are still visible after attempt to fill during stock refinish. The metal blue finish has fully worn or been polished gun metal gray. Bore is fair to poor, with scarring & pitting amongst some visible rifle. The barrel holds a standard notch dovetail rear & blade front sights. Stock carries the original plastic buttplate, with engraved screws. Many of these were shipped to Australia & South America, making them less common in U.S. & generally sought by collectors when in presentable surviving condition such as this example.
