Winchester, Model 56 Sporter, .22 LONG R. Cal., MFG. 1926-29, SN: 1893, Bolt Action Rifle, 22'' Tapered barrel. The original pistol grip wood stock is very good, having an added layer of finish over the remains of the original finish. There minor scrapes, scratches & contusions to the finish. The receiver has had two previous holes filled & then the barrel & receiver were refinished. The refinish rated 98%, while the original finish on the trigger guard & floorplate rates 80%. Bore is very good. The receiver has been fitted with an adjustable Lyman receiver sight, blank filled rear dovetail & standard front sight. Checkered metal buttplate. Original ''Winchester'' stamped magazine. Approximately 8,297 were produced over 4 years, but serialized with the model 57 rifles & thus the higher SN than total 56 production. Solid condition & fairly rare model. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 200 to 400
