C.J. Hamilton & Son, The Hamilton Rifle Model 027 (USA produced version), .22 LR, MFG 1908-30, SN: None, Break single shot rifle. 15'' Round barrel. The model 027 was considered the more expensive version of the model 27, as they carried an oval shaped stock made of walnut rather than a flat birch board. Early examples had the same brass barrel liner, which was later changed to a steel liner. The factory walnut wood stocks on this example are very good & solid despite having a couple of stress cracks at the wrist & some edge chipping around the receiver tabs. The stocks appear to be sanded & refinished, with the forend appearing lighter. The stocks show some staining & minor scuffs or handling marks. The original metal blue finish has worn & toned to a spotty brown patina, with areas of rust pitting & several nick or abrasions. Steel rolled barrel over brass bore liner, 6 groove bore with 1 turn in 15''. Bore is fair, with lots of cleaned roughness & worn rifling. Barrel carries original open iron sights. Thin metal buttplate. A fairly rare Hamilton single shot rifle. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 100 to 250
