J. Stevens Arms Co., Model: No.12 Marksman, Cal: .22 LR, MFG: 1916-19, S/N: 688, lever action single shot rifle, 22'' barrel. The straight wrist walnut stock & forend are very good as being lightly sanded & refinished. There is a 2'' hairline crack at the top of the wrist emanating from the upper tang & a connecting 2 1/2'' crack on the right side of the wrist. The buttplate is just slightly proud to the wood on the toe & the top of the comb. The blued metal finish on the barrel 70%, there are spots of thinned bluing toning to a brown patina, scratches to the finish, & spots of dings, & light pitting. The metal finish is an old refinish rating 80% overall, with spots of thinning toning to a brown patina, scratches, & wear from use. The left side of the receiver is marked ''J. STEVENS ARMS COMPANY.'', ''CHICOPEE FALLS.MASS.U.S.A.'', ''MARKSMAN'', & a ''I'' in a circle proof. The right side of the receiver is marked ''TRADE MARK'', ''STEVENS'', ''REG.U.S.PAT.OFF.&FGN.''. The bottom of the receiver is marked ''L'' & the S/N. The top of the barrel is marked ''22-LONG RIFLE'', & a ''P'' in a circle proof. The bore is fair, has consistent roughness throughout, spots of pitting & worn rifling. The barrel holds a beaded blade front sight, with a deep V-notch rear sight. The stock holds a checkered, hard rubber buttplate that has scratches, wear, & a small crack on the upper screw hole. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 150 to 300
